چکیده
Breast cancer (BC) is the most common malignancy in women and the leading cause of cancer death in females worldwide, accounting for 23% (1.38 million) of total new cancer cases and 14% (458,400) of the total cancer deaths in 2008. In the USA, the estimated number of new cases of BC in 2012 was 226,870, of which 39,510 resulted in death (American Cancer Society, 2012). The incidence rates of breast cancer vary among geographic locales with North America and Europe considered high risk areas, and Asia and Africa indicated as low risk areas (Ferlay et al., 2010). About half the BC cases and 60% of the deaths are estimated to occur in economically developing countries. Iran constitutes a low risk region for BC. However, Iran is located in the Middle part of Asia, which has the highest incidence of BC among women in the region, generally followed by gastric, esophageal and cervical lesions (Moore et al., 2010). Among Iranian women, BC is the fifth most common cause of death (Akbari et al., 2008) and ranked first among cancers diagnosed (Sadjadi et al., 2005; Mousavi et al., 2009), comprising 24.4% of all neoplasms

شناسایی جهش های جدید در اگزون 11 ژنBRCA1 در بیماران مبتلا به سرطان پستان ارثی
Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women worldwide. BRCA1 is a tumor suppressor gene that is involved in DNA-damage repair. One of the significant risk factors of breast cancer is the family history. BRCA1 gene consists of 24 exons that encode a protein with 1863 amino acids. Exon 11 is the largest exons and most of the disease-linked mutations have been found in it. I...

متن کاملThe importance of BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes mutations in breast cancer development
Many factors including genetic, environmental, and acquired are involved in breast cancer development across various societies. Among all of these factors in families with a history of breast cancer throughout several generations, genetics, like predisposing genes to develop this disease, should be considered more. Early detection of mutation carriers in these genes, in turn, can play an import...
متن کاملGenomic rearrangement screening of the BRCA1 from seventy Iranian high-risk breast cancer families
BACKGROUND The second leading cause of cancer deaths in women is breast cancer. Germline mutations in susceptibility breast cancer gene BRCA1 increase the lifetime risk of breast cancer. Eighty-one large genomic rearrangements (LGRs) have been reported up to date in BRCA1 gene, and evaluation of these rearrangements helps with precise risk assessment in high-risk individuals. In this study, we ...

Background: Breast cancer is the most common female malignancy and the main cause of death in mid-aged women. Genetic germ line mutations in BRCAI/BRCA2 in Iranian women with breast or ovarian cancer have not been yet reported. Materials and methods: Clinical data, family history and blood samples were obtained from 83 females aged less than 45 years with primary breast cancer in order to su...
متن کاملFunctional investigation of the BRCA1 Val1714Gly and Asp1733Gly variants by computational tools and yeast transcription activation assay
Mutations in the BRCA1 gene are known to be a major cause of hereditary breast cancer. However, characterizing the point mutationsassociated with cancer in BRCA1 is challenging because the functional impact of most of them is still unknown. Nowadays, a variety of methods are employed to identify cancer-associated mutations in BRCA1. This study is aimed to ass...
